The Big Picture is an amazing multi-weekly Photojournalism blog for the Boston Globe. The photos it chooses are some of the highest quality and most visually interesting shots from the current week’s news on the web, licensed from various sources such as Reuters, Getty Images, public domain shots like those from NASA as well as shots from Private Photographers.

Starting this week they have done a Year In Photographs 2008, taking the best of their own collection of images and selecting the best to try and sum up the year in 120 photographs. The selection is nothing short of astounding, and well worth a look.
