My take on the Dark Knight

Very very very good I have to say, some people said it was underwhelming and over hyped but not so in my opinion. Yes the editing was a bit funny and there was a bit where he wall jumped with his bike (you’ll know it when you see it) that wasn’t even plausible, let alone looking far too much like CGI, but it was a damn fine movie. Plotline worked well, action sequences were polished enough to look visually amazing as well as look at least vaguely realistic- as realistic as Batman can be anyway.

I was a bit confused over some of the editing as I said above. He’s driving along on his bike but the sequences don’t fit together properly- there are periods where between two shots a few seconds may have passed causing him to be further along the road than you’d expect. Possibly to show a faster pace but I don’t think it works. Otherwise the film fits together very well, with some great aerial shots of Gotham city and others.

Acting was not overdone, Christian Bale still works well as the Batman and Heath Ledger was absolutely perfect as the Joker. Everything from the flick of his tongue after sentences to walking away from complete carnage caused by himself was utterly maniacal. A posthumous Oscar would be well deserved, although I hope his death (RIP) doesn’t affect the judging. There have been some excellent films this year and while not trying to sound mean, I don’t know how it would affect his family etc.

Anyway, go see this in the cinema- it’s definitely worth it for the big screen.
